About Porter Trustin Carlson

Porter Trustin Carlson Company was established in 1918 by Harry Trustin. Harry started working at a young age at Union Pacific as a draftsman.  He served in World War I, and upon his return from this, he started the legacy of our company which first was named Kraus & Trustin. Stone aggregates for roads was the focus back then. As times changed, so did the product offerings. During the tenure of Porter Trustin Carlson the company moved into being an interior finishes contractor that sold and installed flooring and acoustical ceilings. Porter Trustin Carlson was the 1st contractor to provide and install acoustical ceiling in Omaha. Once these three gentlemen retired, Gunnar Mossblad purchased PTC. With Gerald Kuehn under his wing they started integrating the selling and installing of metal products.  Most of the products Mossblad and Kuehn incorporated into Porter Trustin Carlson are still being distributed today such as raised access flooring, Unistrut, coiling fire doors and even pneumatic tube systems.  Mossblad decided to retire in 1995, and sold the company to Gerald Kuehn, who is still the owner today. Gerald Kuehn has been with the company now for 45 years and has since added new product lines himself that compliments everything that our company provides. Over the years Mr. Kuehn has mastered all the product lines PTC is involved with which has made him a great asset to architects and engineers.

Jerry Kuehn – Owner and President

Jerry Kuehn is the owner of Porter Trustin Carlson Company. He has been with the company for over 45 years.  Not only does he provide the support for the Porter Trustin Carlson team being our product line guru, but he also is involved in outside sales and project management for several product lines. He works with Unistrut support, patient lift operators, pneumatic tube systems and raised access flooring. Jerry’s engineering background plays a big roll in our company as he can provide design drawings for the support systems, he is involved in.

Jerry is a family man and loves spending time with his three daughters. Jerry is an avid golfer and enjoys hanging out with his friends.  Jerry and his wife love vacationing, and they follow the Creighton Blue Jays basketball and soccer teams.

Preston Bell – General Manager & Outside Sales Representative

Preston has worked with Porter Trustin Carlson for 4 years. He has a background in commercial and residential construction that dates to 2004.  His focus within PTC is working in and out of the office with architects, designers, contractors, and facility personnel. Preston strives on sharing the knowledge that he knows about the specialty products that Porter Trustin provides while learning new things about them every day.

In Preston’s free time he likes to play golf, go fishing, cook, and most of all, spend time with his wife Andrea and 3-year-old daughter Tenleigh.

Vicky Lorsch – Project Management/Estimator & Office Administrator

Vicky Lorsch started working for PTC in August of 1988. She has years of experience in specialty products and has trained several new employees over the years.  She is an estimator and project manager that works with several furnish only products Porter Trustin Carlson distributes which include access doors and Division 10 products. Vicky also functions as our office administrator.

Vicky and her husband enjoy being empty nesters as each of their daughters are grown. They are avid bowlers and have been in leagues for years. They love going to Nebraska Cornhusker Football and Volleyball games and getting out on the golf course.

Tim Smith – Project Management & Estimator

Tim Smith has been working at Porter Trustin since 2015. He works as a project manager and estimator in the division 10 specialties products. He primarily works with toilet accessories, toilet partitions, fire extinguishers, flag poles and mailboxes. In most cases these are only furnished, but when jobs permit, Tim also works with the end users when they would like our union carpenters to install the product.

Most of Tim’s free time is spent with his wife, 5 kids and 18 grand kids. Whether it be hunting, fishing, camping or vacation, it is always an adventure with the Smith family.

Nicole Kuehn – Inside Sales for Construction Specialties/Project Management & Estimator

Nicole started working for PTC in 2018 to help support one of their biggest brands, Construction Specialties. Her duties entail inside sales and customer service for C-S. She works with wall protection, entrance flooring systems, high impact resistant doors, cubicle curtains and track, expansion joint covers and lockers.

Nicole enjoys cross-fit and loves cooking. In her free time, she golfs, skis, and spends time with her niece and nephew.

Jason Alley – Operations Manager

Jason started with PTC in 2019 as our operations manager. He does all the planning and scheduling with our union carpenters for installation projects. Jason reviews projects, verifies dimensions, and works hand in hand with general contractors when it comes to scheduling these installations, to ensure the project is ready to receive the products.

Jason’s past times include golfing, exercising and because he is inspired by music he frequently goes to concerts. His only child, Kate, keeps him busy at home and they love being outside doing things such as fishing and taking walks. He also spends a lot of time watching his daughter play softball.

Alice Rodriguez – Accounting

Alice has been with our company 3 ½ years. She took over the roll of bookkeeper at PTC when the previous bookkeeper retired after 30 years. She is very knowledgeable in the bookkeeping and organization world and has helped streamline our data entry.

When Alice is not working, she loves spending time with her husband and friends. Some of her hobbies are reading, hiking, and camping. She enjoys taking walks around the lake and video chatting with her children and grandchildren as they do not live here in Omaha.
